Account structure

The Getpaid solution is centered around accounts. Accounts are the core organizational unit in Getpaid and play a key role in every operation.

Accounts have capabilities that allow them to assume different roles depending on the scenario. As in the real world, your company can act as a buyer, seller, platform, or a combination of those roles, all under a single Getpaid account.

Getpaid lets you manage these roles in one place by assigning capabilities to each account and organizing accounts through a flexible, multi-level hierarchy that can adapt to your business needs. With Getpaid's fine-grained permissions, you can control access to each account's data and capabilities.

Getpaid is centered on payments and monetization. It gathers and splits funds between the accounts involved in a funds flow, allowing you to manage funds in one place while Getpaid handles the movement of money across the account structure.

Platform

Software platforms and marketplaces use Getpaid to enable merchants to process payments through Getpaid's trusted capabilities.

A platform can act as the seller or as an intermediary that gathers funds while the merchant acts as the seller.

Platforms can control:

  • Account creation for merchants or subsidiaries, allowing them to complete onboarding with the minimum required information needed to start using the enabled capabilities.
  • Which capabilities are enabled and how they are used by each account.
  • Branding and styling for onboarding flows.
  • Branding and styling for embedded or hosted pages, such as payment checkouts, or delegate those settings to the created accounts so merchants can provide a more immersive experience within their own solution.
  • Access to data related to the platform account and any accounts it created, using either the Getpaid API or the Getpaid dashboard, with full transparency into the funds flow.

Seller

Sellers or merchants use Getpaid capabilities, embedded by software platforms, to sell goods and services.

These payment capabilities are fully integrated into the platform using the platform's look and feel, branding, and preferences, so the experience feels native to the merchant.

Sellers can control:

  • Configuration settings delegated by the platform, such as branding and styling for hosted pages and embedded components.
  • Payment methods available for each transaction.
  • Access to data related to their account, such as payments and payouts, embedded into the platform experience using the look and feel they are already familiar with.

Across all accounts involved in a payment, the party acting as the seller should be the business selling the goods or services to the buyer. This is usually the name that appears in the buyer's transaction descriptor.

Buyer

Buyers complete online payments using Getpaid's embedded capabilities.

Buyers can control:

  • Payment preferences for the transaction.
  • Access to data related to their account, such as payments or stored payment methods, embedded into the platform experience using the look and feel they are already familiar with.
